EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION
Job Title: Executive Director for The Museum Broken Arrow
Starting pay range: $35,000-$43,000 annual salary
Location: 400 S. Main Street, Broken Arrow, OK
Full time position. Open until filled.
Education and Experience: Bachelor Degree in Related Field and two years of responsible experience or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Our Mission: To promote, exhibit, and preserve the history of Broken Arrow, its environs, and the State of Oklahoma.
Ideal candidate will exhibit strategic mindset to manage multiple projects, collaborate with Board of Directors and committees, and lead small staff and other groups to achieve expressed goals. Interest in and enthusiasm for history is vital with experience in use of social media to market our small museum and its outreach channels. Management of revenue streams and budget. Some knowledge of non-profits very helpful. Personable and able to engage people of all ages, with effective public speaking to organizations and museum visitors. Writing skills commensurate with the image and goals of the Museum, including willingness to learn to write grants and exhibit narrative. Willing to manage fund raising and other events (large and small) with committee support. Management experience preferred..
Duties: Goal setting and implementation. Promote the Museum, its programs and exhibits on social media, website, and other forms of media. Utilize online and print historical sources as needed. Organize temporary exhibits of local artists or history. Oversee program to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. Oversee Museum Store with assistance. Oversee support personnel: two paid employees plus professional support personnel for payroll, tax returns, store accounting, and website. Utilize publications, promotions, tours and special programs to maintain and grow clientele of our Museum. Create a variety of documents and promotional materials. Create press releases for special events sponsored by the Museum. Maintain calendar and rental bookings with assistance. Fill in for staff, when necessary. Oversee and assist Collections Manager. Ensure that information shared with the public is factual. Perform other related duties as assigned. Prepare monthly reports to share with Board of Directors.
