Executive Director of The Museum Broken Arrow Elected to the Oklahoma Museums Association Board
For Immediate Release: Nov. 13, 2015

The Museum Broken Arrow is pleased to announce that Lori Lewis, executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow, has been elected to the Oklahoma Museums Association board of directors. Lewis will serve as a member-at-large representative and has been involved with the Oklahoma Museums Association since 2012.

“On behalf of the Oklahoma Museums Association Board of Directors, I am excited to welcome Lori Lewis as a new member of the board,” said Brenda Granger, executive director of the Oklahoma Museums Association. “I believe that Lewis’s love of history and the arts will make her a great asset to our organization.”
As a board member of the Oklahoma Museums Association, Lewis will contribute to the mission of the Oklahoma Museums Association in assisting Oklahoma museums with their efforts to educate, inform and entertain. The Oklahoma Museums Association is the primary provider of information and professional development to the staff, student interns, volunteers and governing boards for Oklahoma’s 500-plus museums, historical societies, historic sites and houses, zoos and botanical gardens, living history museums, tribal cultural centers and other museum related institutions. The Oklahoma Museums Association is a valuable resource to museums as they serve their communities.
OMA board members are vetted through a formal nomination process.

“It’s an honor to join the Oklahoma Museums Association board of directors,” said Lori Lewis, executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow. “I am excited to have the opportunity to continue to pursue my passion as well as contribute toward the betterment of all of Oklahoma’s cultural institutions.”

Lewis has a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, as well as a master’s from Northeastern State University. While pursuing her degree in the American Studies program, Lewis became an intern at The Museum Broken Arrow. Following her internship, she then became a member and an employee of the Museum in 2012.

Lewis holds memberships in the Oklahoma Museums Association, the Oklahoma Historical Society and other professional organizations that promote and support historic preservation.

Lewis is also active in the Broken Arrow community. She serves as an Ambassador for the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce, as a board member for Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful and the Main Street Merchants Association and as a member of the Bring Back the Roses Committee and the Starlight Civitans.
