The Museum Broken Arrow to Celebrate "Marmie: A Mouse on Mainstreet" Book
For Immediate Release: Feb. 15, 2018
The Museum Broken Arrow will host a celebration of the special children’s book, “Marmie: A Mouse on Main Street,” with a book signing and reception on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Museum.
The book was created by Lori Lewis, historian and executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow, local writer Lynn Palmer and artist Janet Skates. The interactive children’s book is about a mouse named Marmie who lives in the Museum. The book features vintages photos of downtown Broken Arrow as well as a fully-illustrated map and legend that guides readers on a historical walking tour of Main Street to find Marmie.
Skates will be signing limited edition prints straight from the pages of the book and the group will offer book signings. Visitors are invited to enjoy a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres while shopping for books and merchandise, including a Marmie doll. Proceeds from the book will support the Museum and its programs.
“The creation of ‘Marmie: A Mouse on Main Street’ has been a wonderful experience and I am excited for the opportunity to meet with readers and experience their love for the book,” said Lewis. “Not only has the book been an amazing opportunity to support the mission of the Museum, it has also been an incredible journey of bringing a community together with something as small as a mouse.”
Lynn Palmer, Janet Skates and Lori Lewis have been awarded the “Difference Maker” award at the Annual Awards Banquet for the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. The trio received this commendable honor for their hard work and dedication of the creation of the book, “Marmie, A Mouse on Main Street.”
