The Museum Broken Arrow to Release Children’s Book Benefiting Museum

For Immediate Release: Nov. 20, 2017

The Museum Broken Arrow will debut a special children’s book, “Marmie: A Mouse on Main Street,” at a book release event on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Museum. Proceeds from the book will support the Museum and its programs.

Lori Lewis, historian and executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow, partnered with local writer Lynn Palmer and artist Janet Skates to create the interactive children’s book about a mouse named Marmie who lives in the Museum. The book features vintages photos of downtown Broken Arrow as well as a fully-illustrated map and legend that will guide readers on a historical walking tour of Main Street to find Marmie. Sculptures that coincide with the storyline will be placed along the touring route.

“Creating ‘Marmie: A Mouse on Main Street’ has been a wonderful experience and we are thrilled to finally share this special project with our community,” said Lori Lewis. “Not only is the book a fantastic opportunity to support the mission of the Museum, but children and families of all ages will enjoy the experience of interacting with Marmie’s journey while immersing themselves in the rich history of Broken Arrow.”

The book release event will feature an assortment of breakfast treats, Marmie coloring sheets for children and an array of special Marmie merchandise for purchase including chocolate bars from Nouveau-Atelier de Chocolat. In addition, event attendees can enjoy a variety of Small Business Saturday festivities in the outdoor plaza including ice skating, a tree farm and plenty of special sales.

“Marmie: A Mouse on Main Street” is available for pre-order for $24.95 plus tax from the Museum. To order, please call (918) 258-2616 or visit BrokenArrowMuseum.org.
