Summer Events Heat up at The Museum Broken Arrow

For Immediate Release: June 15, 2017

The Museum Broken Arrow is offering exciting special events this summer in conjunction with their local showcase of “The Way We Worked,” a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program.

The Museum Broken Arrow will host two special days for local sponsors of “The Way We Worked,” offering free admission to employees and cardholders of AVB Bank on Saturday, June 17 as well as free admission to employees and students of Tulsa Tech on Saturday, June 24.

“The Way We Worked” utilizes videos, historical photos, engaging interactive materials and historical artifacts to tell the story of the American worker and highlight the impact on our society’s culture. The exhibit spans from the years 1857-1987, emphasizing four different themes of where American’s worked, how they worked, who worked and why they worked.

The special exhibition is funded by the Oklahoma Humanities and is open for viewing through July 7. Docent tours of the exhibit are still available by calling (918) 258-2616 three to five days in advance of your visit.

“We’re so proud to be hosting ‘The Way We Worked’ at the Museum Broken Arrow, and it’s all made possible by each of our incredible sponsors,” said Lori Lewis, executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow. “If you haven’t experienced this special exhibit yet, please schedule a docent tour or come by the Museum. You truly won’t want to miss this amazing exhibition.”

The Museum is also gearing up to host a new special exhibit from the Sand Spring Historical Society titled “Pics on 66.” The exhibit will be open for viewing in early August.

The Museum Broken Arrow is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Museum admission is $5 per adult or $8 for two adults. Members and children under the age of 18 are admitted for free. For more information on The Museum Broken Arrow and “The Way We Worked,” visit BrokenArrowMuseum.org or call (918) 258-2616.
