The Museum Broken Arrow Hosts 13th Annual Green Country Watercolor Society Member’s Exhibition

The Museum Broken Arrow is now showcasing the Green Country Watercolor Society’s 13th annual juried Member’s Exhibition. The exhibit will be open to the public for viewing through Oct. 6.

The annual Member’s Exhibition features 48 original, creative works in a wide variety of painting styles and subjects from 21 Green Country Watercolor Society artists.

“The Green Country Watercolor Society’s annual exhibit is a fantastic display of creativity from our community of Broken Arrow,” said Lori Lewis, executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow. “This is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults of all ages to immerse themselves in the diverse world of water media painting.”

Artwork showcased in the exhibit was judged by local professional artist, Lance Hunter. Four awards were presented for the 2017 exhibition, as well as four honorable mentions. This year’s award winners are:

  • Best of Show: “Marshall Point” by Whit Todd
  • First Place: “Afternoon Stroll” by Dennis Crouch
  • Second Place: “Midtown Illumination” by Karen St. Clair
  • Third Place: “Say Cheese” by Molly Blankenship
  • Honorable Mention: “Down by the River” by Posey Gaines
  • Honorable Mention: “Kansas Sky” by Dennis Crouch
  • Honorable Mention: “Cheerful Cherries” by Linda Morris
  • Honorable Mention: “Swimming in the Rain” by Karen St. Clair

In addition, the artwork displayed in the exhibition will be available for purchase, with 25 percent of proceeds benefiting The Museum Broken Arrow.

Visitors to The Museum Broken Arrow can also view a series of permanent collections in the main gallery telling the history of Broken Arrow and its residents.

The Museum Broken Arrow is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located in historic downtown Broken Arrow near the site of the original Katy Train Depot. The Museum’s mission is to preserve the local history of the city and its residents and to serve as an educational opportunity for future generations. In addition to showcasing local history, the Museum also offers events, educational opportunities and facility rental. The Museum raises its operational costs through donations, fundraisers and membership dues. You may donate by credit card below.  We also accept cash and check donations at the museum.
