The Museum Broken Arrow to Exhibit “Pics on 66” Photo Series
For Immediate Release: July 27, 2017
The Museum Broken Arrow is set to open a new special exhibit, “Pics on 66.” Visitors can experience the photo series Aug. 1-31 at The Museum Broken Arrow, 400 S. Main St. in Broken Arrow.
The photo series will feature 66 contemporary images of Route 66 captured by several notable photographers including Jim Ross, Shellee Graham, Roamin Rich, Jax Welborn, Rhys Martin and Willem Bor. The gallery will showcase relics and attractions in each of the eight states Route 66 crosses through, as well as vintage postcards, messages from the past and more.
“Route 66 was an essential transportation corridor that connected Chicago to Los Angeles from 1926 to 1985,” said Lori Lewis, executive director of The Museum Broken Arrow. “What remains of the road today is an iconic symbol representing the pursuit of the ‘American Dream.’ The Museum Broken Arrow is thrilled to be hosting this special gallery exhibition that offers visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in a nostalgic yet renewed journey through the historic ‘Mother Road.’”
The “Pics on 66” exhibition is on temporary loan from the Sand Springs Cultural and Historical Museum in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
The Museum Broken Arrow also offers a series of permanent collections in the main gallery telling the history of Broken Arrow and its residents. Museum admission is $5 per adult or $8 for two adults. Members and children under the age of 18 are admitted for free. For more information on this exhibit or to plan your visit, go to BrokenArrowMuseum.org.
